Iron Man 3 and Audi team up for a cool contest

Today’s Friday Find is actually a Promotional strategy for a car. Specifically, the Audi.

According to a Press Release I received “Audi Teams Up with Marvel to Launch Iron Man Crowd-Sourced Digital Comic Book Contest, SteerTheStory.com”

From the website, it looks like they will be having a group choose your own adventure comic. People vote what Iron Man should do, and then they write it into the next part of the webcomic.

At the end (looks like there will be 2 choices made by votes) their will be a contest involving an opportunity for you to create the final panel for the Iron Man webComic. The winner will be decided by three judges. Those judges are Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso and editors Jeanine Schaefer and Bill Rosemann

Additionally, all participants who submit a creative final panel will be acknowledged in the final page. The final US-based winning submission will have the opportunity to win an original art board signed by Marvel artists and a trip to Comic Con in San Diego for an art review by a top Marvel editor.

I think this is AWESOME!

Why is this so great?

It gives individuals an opportunity to have their work in front of the Editor-in-Chief of Marvel.
I like their way of using html5 and hope to one day implement something similar.

Any time the big Comic Book company does something with WebComics I see it as a win for the WebComic Industry. It helps spread the word about comic books not just being these things customers buy from a comic book shop.

I have to say, while I really enjoy the concept of a “group choose your own adventure comic”, the writing on this could be better.
