Connecting

This video is not directly related to comic books, but it has an obvious connection.

How should people interact with your digital comic?
How do you make their experience with your work a unique one while keeping it intuitive (non complicated)?

Connecting (Full Film) from Bassett & Partners on Vimeo.

Watching this video has changed my perspective on how I want my webcomic to appear to the reader. Originally I was stuck on this idea of recreating the physical comic book experience online with flipping pages, paper turning sound effects, and the look of paper.

Now I’m thinking I need to play with the digital medium and focus more on making it simple, enjoyable, and natural for the reader.

How can we improve reader interaction with our webcomic?

This is hard to say since each reader has different preferences and wants from a web comic. People like me hope for an experience of childhood. Holding the comic and enjoying turning the pages, but we (or I) need to focus more on the future. How can a artist create an ideal interface with the computer and mobile devices?

This video holds more questions for me than answers, but it gets me excited about possibilities of product interaction and where my comic can go.

If this video moved you in anyway, I would love to hear about it in the comment section below. I wonder about your thoughts on the best use of new hardware & software for the webcomic creator or artists in general.

How can we connect to our readers through digital interface?
