My office is currently messy.
It is a little embarrassing, but mostly annoying.
It is hard to find what I want, I’m tripping over things, important items are getting lost… It is just annoying, but I have been here before. It happens once or twice a month where it becomes too much and I just need to get my act together and clean.
Why is it so messy?
Like many artists and home based entrepreneurs, the office serves multiple purposes. Not only does it hold my desk, computer, external hard drives, art equipment, business books, multiple printers, etc, etc; but it also serves a host of other function. Some of those being:
- Guest Bedroom (so I have a bed in here)
- Where I keep my cloths (my wife gets the bedroom closet)
- Storage for my magic equipment
- A place for baby to play while dad is working
- and other functions

3 Quick Ways to keep your office clean
1: Every time you leave the room, if it is for water or a bathroom break, do a quick visual sweep of the room and put one thing away before you leave.
2: Schedule time at the end of your work time to clean up your area.
3: Have a box for everything that doesn’t have place to be “put away” or takes time to put away. Once a week go through the box and find a location for everything.

Your home is your castle, your headquarters, your life. It’s vital for an unstressful workflow and enjoyable day to day life to keep some organization to your home office.
